Nutritional status and interdialytic weight gain of chronic hemodialysis patients.
INTRODUCTION The nutritional status (NS) of patients on hemodialysis (HD) is a major concern and challenge. Malnutrition is common in these patients and is related to poorer clinical outcomes. OBJECTIVES To assess the association between the NS and the interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on HD. METHODS Cross-sectional study with 322 patients older ...
متن کاملEffect of Chewing Gum on Xerostomia, Thirst and Interdialytic Weight Gain in Patients on Hemodialysis
Background: Hemodialysis is a method for extracorporal removing waste products such as creatinine and urea, as well as free water from the blood when the kidneys are in renal failure. Xerostomia is a frustrating symptom for patients on hemodialysis; mechanisms that contribute to its development include low saliva flow. An increased intake of fluids secondary to xerostomia in patients on hemodia...
متن کاملInterdialytic weight gain and cardiovascular outcome in incident hemodialysis patients.
BACKGROUND Interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) has been regarded as a surrogate of volume overload, but also as a marker of a better nutritional status in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients on hemodialysis (HD). This paradoxical meaning of IDWG requires further investigation, particularly in adverse cardiovascular outcomes. METHODS A prospective cohort of 1,013 incident HD patients from 36 ...
متن کاملeffects of small group education on interdialytic weight gain, and blood pressures in hemodialysis' patients
conclusions small-group education in patients undergoing hemodialysis leads to a decrease in interdialytic weight gain, and systolic blood pressure, but has no effect on diastolic blood pressure. results the mean, and standard deviation of interdialytic weight gain of participants was 3.64 ± 0.88 kg, before the education, and significantly decreased to 1.34 ± 0.61 kg, and 1.71 ± 0.72 kg one wee...

15 صفحه اولRelationship between Interdialytic Weight Gain and Blood Pressure in Pediatric Patients on Chronic Hemodialysis
Overhydration is reported to be the main cause of hypertension (HTN) as well as to have no association with HTN in hemodialysis (HD) population. This is the first report of the relationship between interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) and pre-HD blood pressure (BP) in pediatric patients in relation to residual urine output (RUO). We studied 170 HD sessions and interdialytic periods performed during...
